Nick and I arrived in San Felipe just after sunset. We found the house Quinten rented and nick set up his house.
Nick would spend the rest of the trip in his roof nest, yes even through the ridiculous rain storm.
Our garage smelled like race gas :)
The only time the bikes would see a garage for the rest of the trip.
The San Felipe house
Probably one of the nicer places we stayed minus that shower situation.
Day one of prerunning.
For those who are unfamiliar, we had 6 racers on our team who all spent a week learning their section of the course.

We spent the majority of the day playing on this lake bed
Instead of going back the way we came we ended up taking the race course home.
Horrible idea, thanks for saving us Robbie Gordon
The lake bed
The lake bed wasn’t too far from the San Felipe house. We actually ended up coming here a couple of times. It was a really cool spot and we had fun filming here. Well we had fun until we got lost on our way home.
Robbie Gordon saves the day
Pierce, Nick and myself ran into a little trouble with Nick’s “Roof Nest” on the race course. Robbie Gordon who is normally known for being an asshole was kind enough to stop and make sure we were ok.
the ridiculous rainstorm
The rainstorm seemed like it was going to be a really big setback.
There was also a concern that upon race day our beloved dry lake bed wouldn’t be so dry.
Things ended up working in our favor as Levi clocked 104 miles per hour crossing the not so dry lake bed
Valle de la Trinidad
Those tacos were nuts
Passing through here we stumbled on crucial crossover road that could have saved us 3 hours of travel time from San Felipe to Ensenada. The rain destroyed the road and it became rutted and very narrow because of fallen rocks. So we had to go the long way
The ridiculous rainstorm
Cont.
The rain got considerably worse, this made our journey to cuatro casas even sketchier as we crossed the peninsula and drove through the night.
Cuatro Casas
This is the coolest place I’ve ever been to. This guy Richard and his wife run the place. It’s literally paradise. Cuatro casas is it’s own point break and the Baja 1000 runs through the backyard. We later watched the race from here, this was my favorite spot.
Race Day
We set up at cuatro casas, that rough section down there at the bottom, bottom left, ya. Right there is normally a silt bed or a crazy deep pile of really fine dust. That’s how wet the dirt was. No dust.
I can already tell this is gonna be one of those stories that gets better every time I tell it so consider yourself lucky that you heard it here first!
