Six Mile Lake

<h1>Six Mile Lake Pride Parade</h1>
For Six Mile Lake, the problems of the pandemic called for an innovative solution, which is now becoming a welcome tradition. This tight lake community is coming together for a second year to show solidarity and support for our LGBTQ+ community, holding their second annual Gay Pride Boat Parade on June 26. 

Due to COVID-19 strict social distancing measures and the elimination of large social gatherings, community events are still being cancelled. However, one determined young woman and a gay rights advocate, found a way to raise hope and create something fun and positive in support of her friends in the LGBTQ+ community.

Allison Vidug has deep rooted ties to Six Mile Lake where her great grandfather first purchased property in the 1940s. As a lifelong cottager with a love of the lake, the land, and the nature surrounding it, Allison took the leap and moved from the city to live here full time in April 2021 to put down permanent roots.

As an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, Allison wanted to celebrate Gay Pride Week with a socially distanced parade where everyone could participate, while remaining within their own social bubbles and still show their love and support for the community. Last year, without knowing how the idea would be received or even how many people and vessels would participate, Allison posted a brief outline on the Six Mile Lake facebook page one week before the scheduled parade providing details of the lake parade route.

The morning of the parade, Allison and her friends were left speechless as boat after boat arrived at the starting point, decorated and flying the pride flags, ready to sail the parade route. Young and old, including a couple in their 90s with limited mobility, found a way to join the festivities as the regatta of boats sailed by while cottagers on shore stood at their docks cheering, waving pool noodles, blowing air horns, and clapping in solidarity. It was truly a show of love, respect, and tolerance.
At the end of the parade route everyone dropped anchor for a swim and to take the opportunity to meet other cottagers, some for the first time, while revelling in the spirit of a new beginning and hope for the future of this lake community.

One mom explained "I have been on this lake my whole life and I have never seen an event like this. It brought me to tears of happiness at the outpouring of love".

The success of the 2020 lake parade created such buzz that immediately, many people came forward asking how they could participate in the next one, raising no doubt that there would be a repeat in 2021. With the enthusiasm and support of the community, the Six Mile Lake Annual Gay Pride Boat Parade is now established, including an extended route this year to include more of the lake shoreline.
 
Along with the residents’ interest comes far reaching support from local associations and establishments. The <a href="https://www.sixmilelake.net">Six Mile Lake Cottage Association</a> is pledging their support with the entry of a decorated pontoon boat that will be sailing alongside the rest of the boaters. <a href="https://www.muskokabrewery.com">Muskoka Brewery</a> will be joining and lending their name to the event. <a href="https://www.thep2plife.com/planned-2-perfection/">Planned 2 Perfection Limited</a> , <a href="https://www.thep2plife.com/paradise-2-perfection/">Paradise 2 Perfection Travel</a> and <a href="https://www.thep2plife.com">The P2P Life</a> are also proud to show their ongoing support of the community and its causes.

&gt; parallel to Long Lake
&gt; through the Northwest Passage
&gt; up to Crooked Bay
&gt; down through Channel Two
&gt; ending in Barefoot Bay!
COVID-19 Safety measures will be adhered to:
&gt; Stay within your household/bubble.
&gt; If joining by boat, be sure to have all of the safety gear required by law and a pleasure craft operators license.
&gt; Maintain a safe speed and distance.

A small idea with a big outcome certainly has given new life to what has otherwise been a very stressful year for all. Allison, her friends and the residents of Six Mile Lake are a true testament to meaning of Community!

<h1>Great News</h1>

As of March 18, 2021, Iceland will open its borders to Foreign travellers, who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have immunity from the virus. 

Anyone arriving from countries considered low risk will be exempt from quarantine if they present a negative test result. 

This makes the North Atlantic Island one of the first counties in the world to reopen after a long closure due to Coronavirus. 

Until now, this exemption has only applied to residents of the European Union/EEA, but will now apply equally to everyone outside the Schengen area, including residents of the United States and Canada, according to an <a href="https://www.government.is/news/article/2021/03/16/Exemption-from-border-measures-for-vaccinated-individuals-to-be-extended-to-non-Schengen-countries/">announcement</a> made by the Icelandic government Tuesday.

Visitors must present proof of vaccination with a vaccine that has been certified by the European Medical Agency, which includes vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson &amp; Johnson. 
This excludes Chinese and Russian vaccines for now.

The exemption also applies to those who can provide valid proof of prior infection. Documentation of full recovery must be in accordance with the requirements defined by Iceland‘s Chief Epidemiologist. We will publish full details in our <a href="https://www.encounter.is/questions-about-covid-19-in-iceland">COVID-FAQ</a> in the coming days.

<h1>TWO DOCTORS, TWO CITIES, TWO CULTURES – ONE CROSS-CULTURAL WEDDING</h1>

One of the most fun parts of being a Wedding Planner is having couples share anecdotes of how they met, their journey together and the proposal which ultimately led them to sit with me discussing their upcoming wedding. I never get tired of listening to their stories, some funny, some serious and some I still find hard to imagine. Each unique but all leading to the final decision to spend their lives together in matrimony. And it was such for this featured couple!

Steve and Pam met through mutual connections, his best friend and her sister. A chance meeting and Steve was smitten. As luck would have it the timing could not have been better for this new doctor who happened to be on a light rotation allowing him rare free time. He, therefore, made it his mission to be in the same place and space as Pam wherever and whenever possible. With creativity and persistence, Steve went to Pam’s sister and bartered a Toblerone bar for Pam’s phone number. After a few group study dates, a late night out and pancakes in the morning, Steve finally worked up the courage to ask Pam out on a real date. One quick chance encounter, one Toblerone chocolate bar, one awkward phone conversation, and two lives forever changed.

Life for Pam and Steve proved a challenge from the outset as busy schedules often kept them apart. Steve did his studies in Michigan, his residency in Maryland and was working in San Diego while Pam was living in Los Angeles working on her PhD. Despite all this, these two high achievers were determined to make a life together.

As with all things Steve, the proposal was just as unique as described by Pam. “Steve’s tendency to make the month of his birthday a virtual National Event meant we had 30 or so odd days of Steve related activities and festivities. One year Steve and I spent Valentine’s at a beautiful Laguna bed and breakfast which a few years later became the location of our engagement. To my surprise Steve suggested we return to Laguna for his birthday weekend, even naming it ‘The Return of The King’ (he is a big Lord of the Rings fan.) I was more than happy to comply knowing that it would be a weekend of couples massages and private hot tubs and what girl doesn’t love those?”
All this seemed completely normal to Pam but upon arrival, she was shocked to find out that Steve had actually rented out an entire area of the bed and breakfast. Complete with champagne and charcuterie, Steve presented Pam with a scrapbook of their years together that he lovingly created. Although it seemed a little over the top for his birthday, Pam went along with it assuming it was just another of Steve’s eccentricities. While flipping through the scrapbook Pam came to a page with an envelope attached to it. As she opened the envelope she was surprised to find a secret compartment carved out of the book and inside was a beautiful engagement ring. The next thing Pam knew Steve was down on one knee proposing marriage.&nbsp; According to Pam, she cannot recall anything Steve said during that proposal other than her name and “will you marry me” because she literally blacked out from the shock. Pam, of course, said yes and a new chapter in their lives was about to begin.

The weekend began with a private function held at Michael’s Back Door, an award-winning Italian Restaurant located in Clarkson Village in the heart of Mississauga. Established in 1981 Michael’s Back Door offers award-winning cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. What has become a staple of the community proved the perfect location for Pam and Steve’s wedding weekend kickoff? Filled with great food, live music and held in the private solarium, the evening was a huge success and fun was had by all.
Day two of our “Wedding Weekend” guests were treated to a cultural extravaganza blending Steve’s South African roots with Pam’s Argentinian background. Noble Hall, a historic building located in Oakville, Ontario was the venue for this colorful and festive afternoon affair. A full Zulu wedding complete with Nthengwa, Civulamulomo, The Mthimba, Umthimba, Umungeniso, Ngoni Ceremony and ending with the symbolic Shield Dance started the day’s festivities. We followed the Zulu ceremony with an homage to Pam’s Argentinian roots showcasing beautiful tango dancers! Guests were treated to a fusion menu of Argentinian Skirt Steak with Chimichurri Sauce, Smoked Chorizo Sausage, Empanadas, Rice and Peas, African Oxtail and collard greens.
The following day the bride and groom donned standard western attire (tux and wedding gown) for the chapel ceremony and a truly Canadian inspired menu for the reception.&nbsp; A true “Canadian Feast” that gave us the opportunity to highlight some of Canada’s best food and drink which included Ontario Water Buffalo Mozzarella, Alberta AAA Prime Rib, PEI potatoes, Nanaimo Bars, Butter Tarts and of course good old Canadian Maple and a late night Poutine Station. We even incorporated the “White Tree of Gondor” on the various menu cards and seating chart for our Lord of the Rings fan.
Since we had all the fanfare and cultural traditions for the first ceremony, Pam and Steve were looking to do something more whimsical and romantic for the second. The vision was A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The venue had to be perfect and there was no better place to hold this beautiful wedding than Harding Waterfront Estates in Mississauga, Ontario.

When I met Pam and Steve to discuss their wedding vision my first impression was that Steve was a man on a mission. Although he was excited about the upcoming nuptials, Steve admits that he initially viewed the wedding planning process as a distraction from what little time he and Pam had to spend together. He was, however, determined to create the BEST wedding in every way possible. I sat and listened to the multitude of Steve’s grandiose and at times crazy out of the box ideas wondering what I had gotten myself into. I could not help being immediately enamored by this magnetic young man who wanted a basketball hoop and dunk contest at his wedding (yes we vetoed these), lawn games such as Badminton, horseshoes, ring toss and of course the ever important nightclub after party. Pam being more pragmatic was the voice of reason and tended to focus more on the key aspects of the wedding such as guest count, decor, catering, photography. It remained this way for over a year, Steve throwing out crazy ideas and Pam and myself teaming up to keep him in check.

With Steve of African descent and Pam Argentinian, it was important to them to find a way to blend their cultures and create an inclusive wedding celebration for all. So I was charged with planning not one but two very distinct weddings and subsequent events for family and friends, some of whom had never been to Canada. The first wedding would be a blend of Pam’s and Steve’s differing cultural backgrounds and the second a truly “Canadian” affair. In order to honor their ancestral routes I first had to learn as much as possible about the wedding traditions of their homelands. It was important to ensure I captured the authenticity and essence of a traditional Zulu Wedding Ceremony while highlighting key aspects of the Argentine culture. With the help of their families, cultural centers and tourism boards from each country, we were able to create the perfect blend of a traditional Zulu wedding ceremony with authentic clothing, dance, and food from both countries.
Planning a wedding is not an easy task when both you and your clients are in the same city or Country for that matter. In the case of Pam and Steve we were living in different countries and although they were living in the same country they were in different cities. Thankfully technology allowed us to meet virtually and through phone calls, emails and one very important visit by Steve to Canada for some final decision making an incredible wedding weekend was created.

Considered one of Mississauga’s most iconic heritage properties, Harding Estate, was named after Kathleen Harding, its longest resident, who lived on the property starting in 1938. The Mansion itself is named the Bell-Gairdner House honoring Kathleen’s two husbands. It was commissioned in 1937 by Charles Powell Bell, Harding’s first husband and when he died right after it was completed in 1938, she married James Arthur Gairdner a well-known millionaire, who made his money as a financier and became one of Canada’s most generous philanthropists.
Harding House gives the feel of early 20th-century country estate living. It consists of the main Bell- Gairdner House, a Coach House, an outdoor tent and beautiful gardens overlooking Lake Ontario. Harding Estate is also featured as one of Mississauga’s haunted homes only adding to the mystique and ambiance. It was the perfect backdrop for Pam and Steve’s Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding to create the eccentric forest inside the tent we commissioned an interior landscape designer for trees of green and cherry blossoms ranging in height from 9′ to 12′ along with living walls, boxwoods, shrubs, and hanging ivy all accented with floating candles and romantic lighting. The grounds were lit with lanterns and torches with the trees adorned with twinkle lights and glass candle globes creating a beautiful fairytale-like feel for these young lovers. When the moon and stars appeared in the night sky we brought everyone outside to give the bride and groom a sparkler send-off in a final nod to what was one very special weekend.
Three very different venues for three very unique aspects of this amazing wedding weekend.

As a Travel Consultant, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to visit other countries and design trips for my clients that provide experiences creating lasting memories. As a Destination Wedding Planner, I have the added privilege of sharing not only in a couple’s journey to their wedding day but to learn about their families, heritage, customs, and beliefs. With Pam and Steve, I was able to journey from Argentina to Kenya to Zambia completing the circle in Canada and in the process have made lifelong friends.
Pam and Steve are proof that when Cupid’s arrow strikes it rarely misses the bullseye.

Pachamama, also known as The Earth/Time Mother is the goddess revered by the indigenous peoples of the Andes. “ in Inca mythology, Pachamama is a fertility goddess who presided over planting and harvesting and embodies the mountains and causes earthquakes. 
This Community of Angla Parish San Pablo, Canton Otavalo province Imbabura (yes quite the mouthful) is the home to such a community of incredible women, the Pachamama. 
Going against tradition these women took a stand and formed an alliance allowing them to practise the ways of their past. Using the herbs and plants, all of which they grow themselves on this land inherited from their ancestors, they perform healing rituals, blend medicinal salves and educate the next generation on the traditions of their Quichuan ancestors.

This is not a place that is on the “tourist grid” and it is by invitation only that one is allowed to enter into this tight knit community. And so I feel honoured to have been invited and able to spend time here and witness the women at work. We were welcomed into the home of the Pacha Mamas living in this beautiful remote village more than 2 hours outside of Quito. When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and warm hands of welcome for us, two Canadian strangers (my husband and I).

These Quichua indigenous women took time to explain to us their history and told how it was through their mothers and grandmothers before them that they learned the ways of the Earth and its power to heal both body and mind. &nbsp;Although they did not speak any English and their Spanish was a mixture of old Spanish and&nbsp;Quichua, our guide Vivian was able to interpret as they told us of the history of the Pacha Mama, which means Mother Earth, and in particular their small group of women. &nbsp;They live modestly but are proud of their&nbsp;Quichua&nbsp;&nbsp;roots and blend those beliefs smoothly with their deep Catholic faith. &nbsp;It was not without its challenges that the Pacha Mamas were able to establish their organization. &nbsp;Even women from their own community believed that such a plight went against the moral code of the their ways and to this day make it difficult on those who dare to join. &nbsp;It is therefore surprising to know that the husbands of these Pacha Mamas not only gave their blessings but helped them to construct the buildings that sit on the farm giving them shelter and a place to call their own. &nbsp;

Two sisters who follow their mother and grandmother as Shaman’s honoured us with a healing ritual. &nbsp; As they were preparing for the ceremony the women explained how they identify plants as being either male or female and that each of those have &nbsp;hot and cold varieties. &nbsp;It is by blending together the right combination of plants that they are able to perform specific rites. &nbsp;In our case it was one to &nbsp;heal the soul and bring inner peace.

We took our place in the centre of a carved cement circle &nbsp;showing the directional letters representing North, South, East and West. &nbsp;We watched as the Pacha Mamas prepared the plants and lit a small fire inside a bowl. &nbsp;As &nbsp;the scent of the blended herbs floated into the air, &nbsp;a bouquet of plants was dipped into essence water and splashed upon us from head to toe. &nbsp;It was hard not to feel overwhelmed and honoured by this rare opportunity. &nbsp;Once the ritual was complete and we stood in silent reflection, we could both feel a &nbsp;light tingling creeping its way up our skin. This, as we were told, was normal and would not be long-lasting. &nbsp;To allow the rite to fully complete its circle, we were instructed to touch no one for at least an hour. &nbsp;This would ensure that no other person’s bad karma could enter into our space and the power of the herbs could do their job. &nbsp;It was truly an inspiring and spiritual experience.

Spending time with these incredible women left me with a mo desire to share their story with others. Working together with the Pacha Mamas and our local Expert Guide, who is also our personal link to the not yet tech savvy Pacha Mamas, we have created one of a kindexperiences for those wanting to take their travels to the next level. As a wedding planner it is my job to create weddings that are magical, romantic and seemingly flawless. Bridal couples put their faith in me to give them the wedding day of their dreams and this is no small feat believe me. In the following series, I will take you on a journey of love and romance featuring real weddings and highlighting some of the most romantic wedding locations around the globe.

Weddings are very personal and every bridal couple has a “wedding day dream.” A vision of what they would like their wedding day to look like. I have to take that vision and turn it into reality whether it is in their home town or thousands of miles away in a foreign country. Some want large and extravagant affairs while others are looking for a smaller more intimate day and even other looking just to plan their secret elopements! Regardless of the size, country or venue, weddings are and always will remain one of the most important days in a couple’s lives.
Both nursing students, Jenny and Tyrone found themselves in the same study group in college. After a year of friendship they both knew they were meant to be together. Five years after meeting Tyrone officially proposed to Jenny at the beautiful Piazza San Marco in Venice Italy. With their mutual love for travel both the couple knew that they wanted a destination wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends choosing Mexico has their country of choice.

For Jenny and Tyrone, Mexico was their country of choice for their destination wedding. Like most destination weddings there are many variables to consider before the actual “wedding planning process” can even begin. It was important to Jenny and Tyrone to find an all inclusive resort that would cater to both their friends with young children and those who were looking for an adults-only alternative. With this in mind it was also imperative for them to be able to move easily between the resorts so that they could spend quality time with everyone who travelled from afar to share to their wedding.
As a wedding planner it is my job to listen, create and execute not only the perfect wedding day but in the case a destination wedding, to ensure that the entire stay for the bridal couple and their guests exceeds expectations. After hearing that many of Jenny and Tyrone’s guests had not only never been to Mexico but had in fact, never been to an all-inclusive, it was important to pick a resort that would provide a well-rounded array of activities as well as quality food. We wanted this, their first foray in to the world of all-inclusive vacations to leave them wanting to return.

All these factors led us to Paradisus Playa Del Carmen La Perla &amp; La Esmeralda as the ideal location. Both resorts are on the ocean and located in a private bay surrounded by protected mangroves, just yards away from the world’s second largest coral reef and stunning views of Cozumel Island. Guests seeking an adults-only resort were booked into La Perla and treated to a calm and serene environment with international cuisine served in 14 world class restaurants. Unlimited premium liquor served in 16 bars, nightly entertainment and a free form pool rounded out the many services this resort offers.
Alternatively guests with young children enjoyed the same quality service, restaurants and bars while staying at its family-friendly sister property La Esmeralda. Both resorts offer the options to VIP one’s stay, La Perla with “Royal Service” offering upgraded accommodations, a personal butler, separate check-in area, private lounge and dedicated pool and beach areas. La Esmeralda offers similar services with their “Family Concierge” upgrade with the addition of extra amenities for the “mini VIPs” including child size robes, slippers, milk and cookie turn down and beach kits among other things.

Since these resorts share a property and are essentially mirror images of each other, it was the perfect solution for Jenny and Tyrone, allowing them the opportunity to be with everyone. Adults from both properties have open access to each allowing guests to further socialize with ease, and for some parents a little “adults only” quality time.
Jenny and her bridal party were able to utilize the elegant bridal suites equipped with showers and lounge areas where they spent the day relaxing and socializing while getting ready for the big day. Always a must at this resort is a day at the incredible Yhi Spa. This 19,627 square foot oasis offers everything from facials and body treatments to a full thermal circuit with wet and dry saunas, plunge pool and hydro massage. It is the perfect place to unwind, rejuvenate and be pampered! Trial hair and makeup sessions are also offered ensuring that the bride is wedding day ready!
Jenny and Tyrone could not have chosen a more appropriate resort for their wedding and their vision of elegance was carried throughout the decor. Their dream to be married under the beautiful gazebo at La Perla was made possible by the resort allowing us to bring the children from La Esmeralda to the ceremony site just prior to the nuptials starting. By having the reception on La Esmeralda side we were able to ensure a fun filled evening for both adults and children alike.

As with any tropical wedding Mother Nature has a way of sometimes rearing her ugly head and although the forecast predicted otherwise, our beautiful outdoor reception and dinner setup was suddenly floating due to an unexpected storm front. Eighteen months of planning and organizing washed away within minutes. Thankful that the weather held for the ceremony, Jenny and Tyrone took it all in stride and once again put their faith in me and left me to do what they hired me to do, “make it happen.” With the help of the incredible resort staff we began to work our magic in the ballroom. And work we did! Since much of what we had was now unusable either due to the fact that is was ruined in the storm or it was for outdoor use only, we found ourselves running to borrow linens and decor from restaurants, lobbies and even long forgotten storage rooms. What took us an entire day to setup outside had to be done within an hour.
Lights were strung, bars erected, tables set, new centerpieces created and to the surprise and pleasure of our bridal couple and their guests the outcome was truly magical. Jenny and Tyrone’s faces as they entered into the ballroom as Mr. &amp; Mrs. filled me with such pride. Their smiles as they looked around the ballroom told me that we had accomplished what we set out to do, give them their dream wedding.
Regardless of the type of wedding one envisions, large or small, elaborate or simple, legal or symbolic, beach, pool or ballroom the most important thing is to have someone working for you and worrying about the things you should not have to on your wedding day. Things happen, situations arise, not all of them as drastic as was the case with Jenny and Tyrone but even the little things can seem insurmountable when all you want to do is enjoy your day, your guests, your moment.
Would things have worked out the same had they not had a wedding planner? I can confidently say “No.” It is because of the relationship I had built with Jenny and Tyrone during the year and half of planning with them that I was able to make decisions on their behalf. I knew what their vision was and what key elements were a must for them. With the help of resort management and staff we gave made sure those key elements were incorporated into the new setup. Last minute changes, spur of the moment decisions, creativity, resourcefulness and above all else advocating for the bride and groom! That is what a good wedding planner brings to the table!
Jenny, Tyrone and all their guests walked away from an incredible week-long wedding vacation with fond memories and a wedding day they will definitely never forget!

<h1>HOW TO PLAN THE PERFECT MULTI-GENERATIONAL TRIP</h1>
As a travel advisor, it is my job to design journeys for my clients that will leave beautiful and lasting memories. The complexity of trip planning becomes exponential when you add more people and the diversity multi-generational considerations of ages and interests as well as family dynamics. As a wife, mother and grandmother who has taken and planned many extended family vacations, I am also able to provide my clients with first hand tips and tricks on how to make their multi-generational experience positive and as carefree as possible. All of these I have learned through my own family travel mistakes and successes.

<h2>EVERYONE IS IMPORTANT</h2>
One of the key factors to a successful multi-generational trip is to remember that although you are travelling en masse for a family holiday, each member of the family has their own expectations and needs. Although we cannot please everyone, all the time, if we craft a holiday experience by listening to all the hopes, dreams and concerns, everyone will walk away happy and looking forward to the next trip.

With modern medicine and healthy living, we are living longer and slowing down the aging process. Age does not dictate our lifestyle or preferences and to group everyone of similar generations into the same box is one of the biggest mistakes made when planning a multi-gen vacation. Rather than focusing on the different generations in your group focus on the personalities, likes, dislikes, needs and wants. The key challenges come with various ages and abilities, whether it be physical or dependencies on others that need to be considered.

<h2>LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION</h2>
My best advice is to choose locations that will offer something to suit multiple interests and physical levels. Just because you are travelling en masse, do not expect to spend every moment of your vacation joined at the hip. Find a way to allow family members to branch off into groups or go solo to pursue their own interests, which might just boil down to alone time.
All-inclusive resorts and cruises are perfect for this type of holiday as they have multiple activities and amenities to suit all ages. Teenagers are more inclined to party late into the night and sleep in late. The rest of the family, either by choice or the very young or old, because of their dependency on others, will be up at the crack of dawn and ready to start their day with the rise of the sun. When we understand the habits, wants and needs of those in our family, we can accommodate them and focus on the moments we are together. Choose at least one main activity each couple of days to do together whether it be hiking, boating, visiting cultural venues etc. and then let everyone go on and do their own thing. The key factor for any multi-gen family to have at least one meal together each day. This will be a time where natural discussions will take place reflecting on the day and sharing experiences whether it is recapping the day or anticipating the next one. Sharing the day’s events with each other will come naturally and everyone from young to old can and will participate with ease. These are the times when we bond with our family members and even the most sullen of teenagers will open up. Family moments are meant to be remembered and cherished.

<h1>MAKING THE PERFECT MATCH</h1>
It is very important to choose a resort or cruise ship that will accommodate any special needs that your family members may have. In the case of young children, make sure there are appropriate children’s activities and child-minding services. This will give parents a chance to have some “Adults Only” or “Couples” time which is essential. Are there enough activities to keep the teenagers happy? Making sure everyone has relevant options is the key to a successful multi-generational trip.
Some of the best activities that everyone in the family can do together are those that are experiential. Choosing easy to moderate activities will ensure that everyone can participate regardless of age or mobility whether it be hiking in the Andes, taking a Catamaran trip, visiting local towns, or playing in the ocean or pool. Stay away from planning any activities that will make it hard or force one family member to sit out, like snorkeling, where young children and infants must stay on the boat and subsequently will need an additional family member to stay behind to watch them. Don’t plan anything that is too long in the heat of the day or physically exhausting as this will lead to tired, grumpy and a very unhappy family.

<h1>WHY WAIT?</h1>

The biggest shift in multi-generational travel is to have unique and experiential moments. Most of my clients are looking to take their family on trips that offer more than just sitting on a beach. They want activities, adventure, great food and for many, including an educational aspect to the trip. There is a shifting trend in legacy-giving, where parents and grandparents want to spend their money on their family NOW while they can, to enjoy these experiences with them. This “soft giving” method rather than leaving everything in a will allows them to use their money to share these special memories with their family.
Some of my most successful multi-generational trips that I have planned include Peru with visits to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, sailing around the Galapagos Islands, taking a helicopter and picnicking in Grand Canyon, heritage trips to Israel, expeditions to the Arctic and the list goes on. There are so many places to see in the world and experience that will further enrich our personal and collective lives when we share them with those we love.

<h1>MAKING THE BEST MEMORIES THAT LAST BEYOND A LIFETIME</h1>

From my own personal experience, travelling with my children and grandchildren has given me memories that keep my heart full. Years later we still find ourselves sitting around a holiday table reminiscing about our trips, laughing at specific events or discussing places we saw or people we met. These are stories that we share as a family and will continue to share for generations to come. Memories of family members who are no longer with us are richer when we can reflect and remember those special moments shared on our trips together. It may take some creative planning, require a bit more compromise and a lot more patience, and in the end multi-generational experiences are priceless.
