  • Welcome to Mauritius

Covered in 70% sugarcane, Mauritius is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to without knowing of its existence before hand.

    First impressions.

    We arrived at sundown.

It was the middle of July and winter on the island. The sky was glorious and the water was clear enough to see the sand sifting between the waves above. My dad and I went straight from the 100 person airplane to the shore, making it just in time for the sun to set.

I travel thousands of miles to visit my Dad every few years and it’s always worth the distance.

We stayed at Preskil Island Resort locates at Pointe Jerome. Located on a peninsula between the historic village of Mahébourg and the Blue Bay Marine Park.

Mauritius is filled with many resorts run by the most kind people. Everyone from Mauritius looks Indian and speaks Creole.

The atmosphere was nothing short of peaceful, even during the few days of rain. With all inclusive meals and bar, our stay at Preskil was very relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend staying there if you ever find yourself traveling in that direction :)

    Grand Bassin

Hindu Gods at Grand Bassin in Mauritius

“Grand Bassin was discovered by Pandit Jhummon Giri Gossagne Nepal who lived in a village in the North of the island called Triolet. The Hindu priest had a dream and in his dream he saw a holy lake which was connected to the sacred river Ganges in India.

At the time roads were far and few. We are talking about 1897. The priest searched for the sacred lake and eventually arrived at Grand Bassin where he came across a lake he recognized from his dream.

News of the divine lake soon spread and the following year pilgrims started walking to Grand Bassin from all over the island.  Grand Bassin in Mauritius is now one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage site outside of India!” (Mauritiusinsideandout.com)

    Curious Corner of Chamarel

    Illusions everywhere!

The Curious Corner is filled with many interactive optical illusions, a garden and a of course a gift shop. We had a blast in here and I especially love how our adventure began by having to find a secret door!

The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botantical Garden in Pamplemouse is the most gorgeous place. As one of their national attractions, the botanical garden was opened by the French governor nearly 300 years ago and is populated with more than 650 varieties of plants!

If you know me then you know I love Palm Trees and the botanical garden has about 85 different varieties of palm trees brought from different corners of the world.
