Pokémon’s origins

In 1996, Satoshi Tajiri created the first Pokémon game. The people of Japan loved it. Shortly after the game’s success, He created cards and a year later a show. Pokémon was so popular that it spread to America and across the world. The Pokémon cards first released in Japan in 1996. They first released in America in 1998.

The Vintage cards (1996-2010)

In 1996, The Japanese base set released . It was the first ever set. Two years later, the cards where being printed in America in 1998. They started with printing the first edition base set, which is the most expensive. Then, they printed the shadowless base set, which is the second most expensive. Finally, they printed the base set unlimited which is the most common and the least expensive out of the three. In the three sets there is one card you really want. It is called a Charizard. It is the most expensive card in each set. It is the most popular Pokémon along side a Pikachu.

The Modern Cards (2011-2020)

The three most popular modern day sets are evolutions, champions path, and flashfire. Evolutions is so popular do to it containing retro cards such as a charizard card. Champions path contains a shiny charizard V which is worth a lot of money. Finally, Flash fire contains a mega charizard ex that is worth a lot of money.

The Grails

Picture 1: The Pokémon illustrator card. This card is numbered of 39. One sold for 143,000 at auction.

Picture 2: A Charizard Base set first edition holo. This card card in perfect condition sold at auction for around 300,000.

These are the two most expensive Pokémon cards.
